Solenoids & Coils

SOLENOID (HELIX), IRON CORE

3171-00

SOLENOID

For studying magnetic induction properties produced by electric current and the effect of an iron core, etc..
Consists of a plastic spool with windings of enamelled copper wire having brass binding posts on square end supports. Includes a soft iron core rod of diameter 18cm and instructions.

SOLENOID (HELIX), AIR CORE

3172-00
SOLENOID

To provide external magnetic field where required and to change the rate of magnetic flux passing through a coil.
Consists of a plastic spool with windings of insulated copper. End plates have brass binding posts. Capacity 10 amperes when used intermittently and 5 amperes when used continuously.

PRIMARY AND SECONDARY COIL SET

3173-00

SOLENOID

For studying electromagnetic induction, ferromagnetism and principles of a transformer.
Consists of two coils wound with enamelled copper wire over heavy plastic spools fitting one within the other. The inner primary coil has 1250 turns of heavy wire and the outer, acting as secondary coil with 250 turns of fine wires. Square supports of thick insulating material are used as vertical or horizontal mount. Both coils are equipped with binding posts and a soft iron core for induction studies.

MAGNET MODEL

3177-00

MAGNET MODEL

For demonstrating the molecular nature of magnetism in a solid either by direct observation of the model or byobserving the image by putting it on glass stage of an overhead projector while it is magnetized under the influence of an external magnet.

Consists of twenty freely turning small compass needals about 14mm long, mounted on pivots betveen two clear plastic sheets. The needles hold a random orientation depending on earth`s and magnetic field. Under the influence of an external magnetic field the needles align themselves along the lines of force of the field. Base dimensions are (l x w), 120 x 80mm (4.7 x 3.1 in). Packed incardboard case.

SOFT IRON ROD

3181-01

SOFT IRON ROD

For uses involving changing magnetic flux in electromagnets, electric motors, generators and transformers.
Dimension (d x l), 200 X 6mm.

STEEL BALLS

3183-00

STEEL BALLS

As a substitute for iron filings for studying the phenomenon of magnetic fields. Form clusters and chains between unlike poles of magnets.
Polished, hardened spheres of diameter 3mm.
Pack of 100.
